Transactional: based on the setting of clear objectives and goals for the followers as well as the use of either punishments or rewards in order to encourage compliance with these goals (Burns, 1978). It involves getting things done within the current methods or by the book leadership. Transformational: style of leadership in which the leader identifies the needed change, creates a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executes the change with the commitment of the members of the group (Bass, 1990). It involves breeding change in as many ways as possible Both carry their own merits and demerits. In my office director of technology was heading the department of researchers.
