consider the given reaction

N2 (g) + O2 (g) ---> 2 NO (g)

by definition

dHo rxn = heat of formation of products - heat of formation of reactants

in this case

dHo rxn = ( 2 x dHof NO ) - ( dHof N2 + dHof O2)

the standard values are

dHof N2 (g) = 0

dHof O2 (g) = 0

dHof NO (g) = 90.29 kJ/mol

so

dHo rxn = ( 2 x 90.29 ) - ( 0 + 0)

dHo rxn = 180.58 kJ

so

standard enthalpy change of the reaction is 180.58 kJ
