RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE SECTOR

Residential aged care is for senior Australians who can no longer live in their own home.It includes accomodation and personal are 24 hours a day,as well a access to nursingand general health services.In Australia,older people can no longer able to stay in home.A person must be approved as a resident before they can ente subsidised residential aged care.An Aged Care Assesment Team(ACAT) will approve a care recipient.People can apply for an assesment through My aged care.Residential Aged Care provides accomodation and care to older people so they can maintain their health and wellbeing.Aged care home provides accomodation and help with;day to day tasks such as cleaning cookng and laundry,personal care such as bathing,dressing and going to toilet,access to health practitioner services,clinical care and therapies.They also provide social and emotional support and entertainmnt.Costs of living in residential aged care vary.My aged care is a website which has information for residents on;costs,how to apply for a subsidised place,how much a resident is likely to pay,using the free calculator.Approved providers run Australian government- subsided aged care homes.The department of health approves application for approved providers under the Aged Care Act 1997.

Home and Community Support Sector

Home and community sector re utilized when oversight or supervision as a discrete service is necessary to maintain health and welfare of the partiipant living in the community.Oversight or supervision may be needed for safety monitoring to prevent an individual from harmful activities.It can be accomplished through cueing,prompting,direction and instruction.If the applicant does not require oversight,HCSS would not be appropriate.It can also be provided to participants needing oversight or ssupervision who also require assistance with personal care services.HCSS is complementarybut not duplicativeof other services.
