Chymotrypsinogen is activated into its active form, chymotrypsin by the enzyme trypsin. This active form is called π-chymotrypsin and is used to create α-chymotrypsin. Trypsin cleaves the peptide bond in chymotrypsinogen between arginine-15 and isoleucine-16.
