As you read about in the textbook this week, goal-setting is an important strategy to manage your time and stay on track with your education. Reflect on the importance of goal-setting, and answer the following questions: Briefly, share a time when you set a goal and did not accomplish it, and then share a time when you set a goal and successfully achieved it. Why weren’t you successful in your first example? Why were you successful in your second example? Why does effective goal-setting help us achieve goals? What are the characteristics of good goals? Based on your answer to questions 1 and 2, set three goals: one short-term, one mid-term, and one long-term.
1.It was a holiday and I was tasked to do chores, yard cleaning and grocery to be exact. I didn't plan my day which resulted to incomplete task.
The other one is during "hell week" where in school projects and exams almost come at once. I was able to survive and pass all necessary requirements.
2.Goal setting is important as it serves as a guide to what you step you need to take. Setting a goal will help you focus on your actions and build a certain mindset in order to achieve a result. But of course, a goal should be realistic and achievable to a certain point.
3.Short-goal: Pass a course; Mid-term goal: Finish college; Long-term goal: Putting up a business
Explanation:
1.It was a holiday and I was tasked to do chores, yard cleaning and
grocery to be exact. I didn't plan my day which resulted to
incomplete task. First I didn't plan on waking up early. I was able
to go to the groceries in the afternoon. After that I proceed on
cleaning our yard. I didn't put into mind the pile of things that
need to be sorted for trash. It took me a lot of time sorting and
figuring my next step because I wasn't able to come up with a
system on how I should proceed. I didn't finish cleaning, worse I
took the space in our yard with things because it was already
evening.
The other one is during "hell week" where in school projects and exams almost come at once. I was able to survive and pass all necessary requirements. First, I listed all the projects and exams I have and put a timeline on dates of submission and schedules. I also weigh the level of difficulty of the requirements. My goal is to finish the less difficult and those that have the earliest deadline, then maybe overlap with those that is time consuming so i can focus on the hard ones. I manage to have a clear plan on how I will finish each task without the hassle of thinking too much just because they came in bulk.
2.Goal setting is important as it serves as a guide to what you step you need to take. Setting a goal will help you focus on your actions and build a certain mindset in order to achieve a result. But of course, a goal should be realistic and achievable to a certain point. ex: You don't say that your goal is to fly to the moon when in the first place you have no plan of taking a degree related to that like Physics or Astronomy, etc and no plan on taking a job in NASA. A good goal is something that helps you get something done or build your character or also may reach your dreams.
