34. In general autosomal recessive disease will get expressed when the both the recessive alleles are in homozygous condition.

As per the law of inheritance, the dominant gene will get expressed even when it is in heterozygous condition but, this is not true in the case of haplo insufficiency. At this condition the dominant allele will have an insufficiency to show the phenotype, that means it fails to get expressed. Therefore, the disease will come even if there is any single recessive allele (heterozygous) present inspiteof dominant allele.

Young woman's mother has Blooms syndrome but, father does not have. If she is heterozygous for this disease, then there will be a chance for the development of this disease.

A mutation in the CF gene affects a protein involved in the transport of chloride and sodium across cell membranes, causing thick mucus and secretions, lung damage, and nutritional deficiencies. The disease is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner, meaning one must inherit two mutated alleles in order to have the disease. Greg does not have cystic fibrosis, and...

    1. Tay-Sachs is an autosomal recessive disorder, which is the inability for infants to breakdown gangliosides in the CNS, which overtime build-up and destroy neurons. As the disease progresses, the child loses muscle control. Eventually, this leads to blindness, paralysis and death. If you have a family history of Tay-Sachs disease or if you're a member of a high-risk group and plan to have children, doctors strongly recommend genetic testing and genetic counseling. 3. Sickle-cell disease is a genetic condition caused by an autosomal recessive allele which al- fects one in every 500 African American children born in the U.S. One in every ten African Americans is a carrier for the recessive allels. Although sickle cell disease is caused by a single human gene, it is expressed through many different effects throughout the body. The presence of a recessive sickle-cell allele in humans causes the red blood cells to produce abnormal hemoglobin protein...
