4)The asprin drug is usually in combination with acetaminophen and caffeine in the tablets.The major principle behind the separation of asprin drug from the remaining components is solvent extraction process and filtartion process.The seperation is based upon the difference in the solubilities of the components in different solvents.At first acetaminophen is seperated from the remaining two components by dissolving the tablet in dichloromethane and then filtered off.

Then after,from the dichloromethane solvent with the remaining two components asprin  and caffeine are seperated by using either acid or base as a solvent which seperated one of the components and the left over drug can be filtered off.So the main principles behind the seperation of asprin drug from acetaminophen and caffeine,mass transfer operations like Solvent Extraction and Filtration methods.
