A friend who's skeptical about climate change argues that the roughly 0.75oC increase in earth's temperature during the industrial era could be caused by an increase in the sun's power output. The sun's average power has, in fact, increased by about 0.04% during this time.

Answer #1

No, he is not. Although power output of sun has increased, irradiation flux received by earth surface remain somewhat constant of about 1370 W/m2. So on average effect of sun power on increas in earth temperature is insignificant. On the other hand , industrial revolution, increased emissions of greenhouse gases, and natural and human activity are the main culprit of climate change.

    4. In studying climate, scientists are often concerned about positive feedback loops: two or more pro- cesses that amplify each other, creating a system of amplification that leads to a vicious cycle. One example is the interaction of water vapor with global temperature. If global temperature increases, the capacity of the atmosphere to contain evaporated water vapor also increases. If water resources are available, this would result in an increased amount of water vapor in the atmosphere. Water vapor is...

But not until the 1990s did greenhouses begin to gain popularity in the United States. The timing couldn’t be better. The amount of farmable land per capita in the world continues to shrink, and over the next 50 years, world population is expected to increase by 3 billion. At the same time, economists estimate the demand for farm products will double....
