Answer #1

Solution: Voltage on a disharging capacitor is given as:

V = V0 e(-t/T)

Where, V0 - initial voltage , T = time constant and V - Voltage at time "t"

ATQ, V = 5%V0

=> V = 0.05*1500V = 75V

Plugging the known values in the equation,

=> 75V = 1500V e^ (-40/T)

=> 0.05 = e^ (-40/T)

=> ln(0.05) = -40/T

=> T = 13.33 ms.

We know that, T = RC

where, R is resistance and C is capacitance = 100μF (Given)

=> 13.33/100*10^-3 = 133.3 ohms. Answer
