Describe how the disease multiple sclerosis can cause weakness and possibly paralysis.
Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease in which, the myelin sheath covering the neurons present in the central nervous system is degraded. As a result, there will be decreased impulse conduction or loss of impulse conduction in that area. Depend upon the affected area, the corresponding organs may suffer from paralysis because loss of neurons communication specific regions. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis include impaired cognitive functions, bladder functions, emotional changes, depression, fatigue, sexual dysfunction, visual problems, convulsions, pain muscle spasticity, etc.
Describe how the disease multiple sclerosis can cause weakness and possibly paralysis.
Describe Huntington’s Disease AND Multiple Sclerosis.
Describe what happen in the CNS in the disease known as multiple sclerosis(MS)?
If multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system, explain how clinical problems are related to demyelinization of axons.
Answer the following questions about paralysis: What is the general definition of paralysis? Describe the type of paralysis that may occur in the case of tetanus AND explain exactly how this condition affects the neuromuscular junction (Describe the biochemistry). Describe the type of paralysis that may occur in the case of botulism AND explain exactly how this condition affects the neuromuscular junction. (Describe the biochemistry) Note: Tetanus and botulism cause two very different types of paralysis and therefore how they...
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an Autoimmune disease that is very difficult to diagnose. Using M13 library, how can you develop a diagnostic tool to differentiate MS from other diseases with similar symptoms. In details, start with: A. What type of peptide will you use? Where will you insert the peptide? And how will you construct the M13 vector to make the library?

For multiple sclerosis patients we wish to estimate the mean age atwhich the disease was first diagnosed. We want a 90%confidence interval that is 8 years wide. If the populationvariance is estimated to be 85 from previous research, how large asample should be taken?
Heart disease is the most common cause of death in the US and Arterial Sclerosis is the most common form of heart disease in the US. Statins are a class of compounds that significantly ameliorate the onset of this disease, and therefore statins are amongst the most commonly prescribed drugs in the US. Statins are competitive enzyme inhibitors of HMG-CoA reductase. Draw a Lineweaver – Burke plot containing two lines (one in the absence of inhibitor and one in the...
d. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease in which the myelin sheaths are destroyed in the brain and spinal cord. With what process does this interfere and what would be the consequences? e. Discuss the two main factors to influence conduction speed of an action potential. BONUS: (2 points) Does a local potential guarantee the creation of an action potential? Explain.
