1.

  • Monitor all the processes of a system, as to ensure the optimal running of the machine.
  • Monitor the virtual memory statistics of the system, as to ensure no system has less than sufficient memory or a system is not using more than what is alloted to them.
  • Who is logged in and their activity, and for how long someone has been logged in.
  • For how long the system has been open.
  • Monitor, collect and report Linux system activity.
  • Network Statistics.
  • Bandwidth usage.

2.

  • Proprietary
When dealing with proprietary software, the owner of the application grants access to his product via an end-user license agreement (also known as EULA).This type of agreement details what your customers are entitled to do when using your software, and in which context they are able to use the application. However, users do not own the software itself. Before using an application, the customer will need to agree to the Terms & Conditions of the EULA.
  • FreeWare
FreeWare licenses, as the name suggest, are free of cost. However they may or may not be a proprietary software. The owner of the software/algorithm/code may still ask you to sign an agreement on how you should use the software and in which context. The user does not own the software unless stated in their agreement.
Or the owner can make this license as an open source so anyone can use it/ modify it/ and acccess the source code, without having to care about any legal allegations.
  • Open Source
Open Source licenses work differently and allow software to be used, modified, and shared, without restriction. This also includes access to the source code of the application. The user have the full control/authorization to use the software however they want.
  • All open source softwares are freewares, but not all freeware software are open source licensed.
