There are Various types of Software Development Life Cycle Models. Some of them are

Waterfall Model

Spiral Model

V Model

Waterfall Model: The waterfall model includes Planning, analysis,implementation and testing phase. This model is different from other models as testing comes after the
implementation. In this model first complete software is produced
and then testing is done over the application. The advantage of this
project is all phases are completed at one time and its good for small projects.

Spiral Model: Spiral model has four phases Planning,risk analysis,
engineering and evaluation But the more focus is on Risk Analysis
This project undergoes each phase repeatedly which are called Spirals
Planning phase is the baseline and each subsequent part is build on that spiral model. The advantage if this project is that more emphasis is put on risk analysis and software is produced at early stage but its very costly model.

V Model: This model has the relationship between each phase and the testing phase. Every phase in this undergoes testing and new changes are done if defect is found. As it does not follow linear path so its called V Model.
The advantage of this model is as each phase testing is done end product is always good. Its simple and easy to use.
