Explain ONE of the reasons why solvents can shift the peaks seen in UV-Vis.

Sol. In UV-Vis peaks are due to electronic transition from one energy level to another energy level and due to solvent interaction ( known as solvation) of molecules their energy level can be disturbed and so difference in energy levels of the molecule can be disturbed, in turn peak can be shifted.
