Case 1 As a result of cost cutting, a software project sponsor once told the project manager that his budget was cut by 10%. He asked where the scope should be reduced, to be told: "I am sure you are such a good project manager that you can accept this change without affecting anything else". As the project manager, what would you do? 8

This is challenging task for a project manager.

As, the budget is cut to 10% , the expectation form the PM is to deliver same thing in this budget .Now, if PM deliver less it will harm customer relation . So, I think PM need to manage his resource in more effective and efficient way.

The scope of reduction are-

1. Improve the team’s work efficiency so that we can eliminate over time cost from the project.
2. Planning of work in better way, so that we can utilize full man hours.
3. Project do have buffer resource, it is advisable that in this challenging time do not increase the number of buffer resource.
4. If possible you can eliminate buffer resource who don’t have any clear road map in next 6 months.
