DNA replication begins with the separation of two strands of DNA helix. As the complementary base pairing between The Helix is held by hydrogen bond, so for The Separation of two strands hydrogen bond need to break by Helicase enzyme.

After the separation the double standard DNA became two separate strands known as template strand. Also the separation allow the hydrogen bond Donor and acceptor groups of each DNA template base to become exposed for base pairing with the appropriate incoming free nucleotides.

Navrang nucleotides of template strand bind with the nucleotides present in the cell. ( nucleotide A will successfully pair with T and G with C ) . So each strand of DNA can serve as a template to specify the sequence of nucleotides on its complementary strand by DNA base pairing. This is way a double helical DNA molecule can be copied and and each new double stranded DNA contain one strand from parent and one strand is daughter strand synthesized on the base of the complementary base pairing.
