Routine Activity Theory which was proposed by Marcus Felson and Lawrence E. Cohen suggests that certain situations promote crime. So, the environmental set-up definitely force people to get involved in crimes.

In our neighbourhood, parks are the most important hotspot which encourages crime. Young people gather there and get drunk and engage in criminal activities. So, people in our neighbourhood with the help of the police set-up flood lights and patrolling.

The second spot is unlit streets where few people gather, smoke weeds and threaten people. Women especially, are afraid of walking through those street because few people were attacked and their things were stolen. So, we requested community policing and more lights which was granted by the local council later.

Final spots are bachelor apartments were people take drugs and make lots of noise and engage in gang fights. So, the police has advised people in our area not to give housing for bachelors who don’t work.
