Which of the three elements of routine activities theory do you feel is the most important to address in efforts to reduce crime in hot spots?
There are three elements of crime that need to be present in order for a crime to happen. Such as an offender who is motivated to commit a crime, a victim on whom the crime would be omitted and finally, the absence of the authorities who ought to protect the victim or prevent the crime. In my opinion, the absence of a guardian or law enforcement agent or agency is the most important factor that would cause crimes. This is because offenders would always look for an environment that would be favourable for them to act on the victims. People always fear to commit any crimes in the presence of an authority. Almost all the crimes occur in places where the law enforcement officers are not present.
