What are the biggest advantages and disadvantages to forecasting in teams? How do different roles develop within a collaborative group? Are 'followers' in teams always 'freeriders'? Can leaders be overly autocratic?
Forecasting gives the team an opportunity to plan things in a proper manner such that all the resources are effectively utilised and wastage is reduced. This also helps the team in building proper route so that they can work efficiently and succeed. However forecasting gives unnecessary pressure to the team as some sort of expectations would be set which might not be the reality. Also forecasting is always based on previous results and theory which might not work all the time and the current situation might be different from the previous ones. Collaborative groups have different people with different experience levels where the team might depend on some for their opinions due to their experience and on some for their strategies as they are qualified and on some others for execution as they are trained. So different roles will be given to different people and hence roles develop within a collaborative group. Followers also contribute to the team by helping their leader and executing the orders of the leader which means they are not always freeriders. Leaders cannot always be autocratic. Sometimes they need to discuss with their team and must also take their advise on some issues as they have more experience in that field. So leaders cannot always be autocratic.
