Answer #1

Rf value -

Is the "retardation factor" ,which is ratio of distance traveled by compound in a mobile phase compared with distance traveled by the solvent front itself .

Let's see condition of Rf factor-

1) Rf factor always greater than or equal to zero and less than equal to 1 .

So let's see provided Rf value -

1) 1.17

This Value greater than one, so definitely it is not correct Rf value

2) 0.35

This value greater than zero and less than one, so it satisfies Rf value condition. Hence it could be calculated Rf value

3)-0.42

This value is less than zero, so it fail to satisfy condition of Rf factor.

4)0.83

This value is greater than zero and less than one, so it could be calculated Rf value .

5) 0.68

This value is greater than zero and less than one, so it could be calculated Rf value.

Keep in mind, those value greater than zero and less than 1, are recognised as Rf value.
