The observed PD asci are (24 +25) ana the observed NPD (30+ 21). If the genes are unlinked, the numbers should ne divided by 2 i.e., PD~ NPD

Degree of Freedom = 1

The two unlinked genes will affect the probability of cross overrs occuring together is the product of their independent probabilities. Thus, the probability of multiple crossover is small if genes are close together, but increases rapidly as genes are further apart.
