How are the CDC and WHO working together in dissemination of COVID- 19 information to the world?
CDC (center for disease control) is a board that operates in the USA under its government for prevention and disease control. CDC answers to courts, congress, and president of the USA. While WHO (world health organization) is an agency of the United Nation and answer to the annual assembly of ministers of world health. The recent outbreak of covid-19 is creating a stressful time and chaos across the world. In a situation like a public health emergency, it is important to make the dissemination of spread disease of covid-19 to the world. Two of the greatest and functionally powerful agencies like the CDC and WHO are coming in front of the world to make awareness programs.
The outbreak was first reported with an unknown cause of pneumonia in Wuhan, China. As of the time, this becomes an outbreak over major cities in China. Over the research, it was found that the outbreak is marked by a coronavirus. WHO soon started a 24x7 working schedule to analyze the data for this outbreak. WHO soon declared this outbreak as a public health emergency on the 30th of January 2020. WHO started a collaboration with partners and other agencies like NMPA and CDC of China and the USA to take advice and make countries prepare plans for it. This collection of data and collaboration with different agencies help to figure out about the disease outbreak and WHO announced the name of new coronavirus disease as COVID-19 on the 11th of February 2020. The WHO and CDC work together to improve health awareness regarding the coronavirus(covid 19) by communicating people in the community and suggesting different strategies. these health care organizations establishing a strong line of communication and ensure that information is consistent before and during a COVID 19 outbreak in our community by continuously updating in their official website pages. these agencies establishing a system for sharing information with key partners and stakeholders by making a chain of communication by maintaining up-to-date primary and secondary contact information for everyone in the chain. the latest update of COVID 19 circulates from different platforms, such as a hotline, automated text messaging, email, social media, and a website. they create a COVID 19 communication workgroup with representatives who work in various community settings, such as childcare programs, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, schools, workplaces, community, and faith-based organizations, and public and private organizations .these healthcare agencies ( WHO& CDC) discusses the emergency communication plan for the different state or local community and encourage the workgroup to participate in other community-wide COVID 19 readiness activities. then these workgroup members inspire the public to consistently practice good personal health habits and prepare for emergencies. The WHO and CDC create a plan for interacting with newsmedia because media can serve as a vital link to providing up-to-date information and helping to deliver a key message to the public and also develop a strategy for communicating directly with the public through media and answers to inquiries. These quick and front line activities help in combatting this deadly disease up to an extent. These collaborations and interconnection help countries to counter safety measures and make future strategies to combat the disease.
