Explain the Huntley Lopez model and its importance.
The Huntley Lopez model suggested that copepods and other zooplanktons grow everywhere at all times and the rate of their growth is dependent on the temperature of their habitat. This model was given by Huntley and Lopez in 1992 and created a storm in the community of the zooplanktologists.
They made assumptions that copepods grow at exponentially at a constant rate from hatching to maturation. They conducted surveys to prove their point. It was found true for almost all copepods.
They gave the equation-
Adult mass= Egg mass x e to the power of g, where g is the growth rate.
