Question
A corn genetics lab.
i got total chi-square of 14.34. And the number of degrees of freedom of 1.
How can I find the probability of a Match base on the table? please explain.

Degree of Freedom 0.99 0.000 0.020 0.115 0.297 0.554 0.872 1.239 1.647 2.088 2.558 3.053 3.571 4.107 4.660 5.229 5.812 6.408

Answer

According to the given question-

The degree of freedom with their chi square critical value are given in the table.

Here the probability is given from 0.99 which indicated the 99 % similarity. The probability is calculated from 0.99 to 0.0005 i.e. upto 0.005%

For one degree of freedom the valve of your chi square are 14.34 which is greater than the probability value of 0.0005 which is 12.12

i.e.the your calculated values of chi sq0uare is > probability of 0.0005 which is 12.12. because 14.34> 12.12, so your value are not in the range so you have to reject the hypothesis for this critical value.

For example you have your critical value is 3.4 for one degree of freedom so you have to look between the probability valve which comes in this range and you can observe that the valve of 3.4 is comes between the probability of 0.10 and 0.05 and by interpolation you can get the correct value of probability.

Here you have provided incomplete table and the valve of probability are from 0.99 to 0.01 but the probability are calculated from 0.99 to 0.0005 for every degree of freedom. So plz get the complete cri square value table from where you can easily get your result.

A normal probability plot suggests the data could come from a population that is normally distributed. A boxplot indicates there are no outliers. The sample standard deviation is s= 0.315. Construct and interpret a 95% confidence interval for the standard deviation pH of rainwater in this region....
