Ans: Determination of adequate site compaction is done by determining the in situ density of soil and compacting it to the maximum dry density determined by a laboratory test method

The most commonly used laboratory method is proctor compaction test and there are two different methods is obtaining the dry density .1. Standard proctor compaction test 2. Modified proctor compaction test. Both the tests help to determine the optimum moisture content that is required for soil to attain maximum compaction ie. MDD for performing construction.Modified proctor tests are more advanced than the standard proctor test but the purpose are same.The Standard proctor test is required more moisture while mod.proctor test require less. The data to be collected during the tests are Maximum dry density (MDD) and optimum moisture content (OMC)
