Answer #1

Correct option is second option : EF-G the factor in the translocation of prokaryotic protein synthesis, is a protein that carries out its action by a mechanism that mimcks an amino acyl tRNA-EF-Tu-GTP Complex.

This is an example of molecular mimcry where a protein domain of EF-G is evolved to mimic the shape of a tRNA molecule.

    5) Translation was originally sorted out using a variety of inhibitors of protein synthesis Inhibitors tend to interrupt the process at a particular step and a population of translating ribosomes will all stop in the same state. An allied technique is to identify temperature sensitive mutations in various accessory factors. When the population of ribosomes is shifted to the restrictive temperature, ribosomes will stall when they need the function of the mutant protein to continue By analyzing the structure of...

Tetracycline inhibits protein synthesis by which mechanism? It interacts with the small ribosomal subunit, blocking access of the aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex. It binds to the 305 subunit and distorts its structure, interfering with the initiation of protein synthesis. It binds irreversibly to a site on the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, thus inhibiting translocation. It inactivates the eukaryotic elongation factor, eEF-2, thus preventing translocation.
