What do you think the sloths teeth are adopted for? Why are they dark?

Sloth is the slowest animal on earth and they are Arboreal in nature.They spend most of their time hanging on the trees .Sloths are herbivorous in nature, they eat leaves, fruits.

Sloths belong to the ant eater group also called edentates. These group lack teeth but sloths have teeth which cannot be replaced in their lifetime.Sloths adapted teeth in regard to their herbivorous nature. As they feed on leaves and fruits, they need teeth to chew the leaves and fruits.Also being the slowest animal on the earth it will be an easy .prey for anacondas and some animals.So to defend themselves they use their sharp teeth and claws against their enemies.

unlike mammals teeth, sloth teeth lacks enamel coating on them.Enamel is the material which gives shining to the teeth , as the enamel is missing in the sloth teeth , they are having dark teeth.
