The most important functions of the self is to regulate the thoughts, feelings and behaviors. This would mean that the self would become aware of the environment and execute the relevant behaviors and induce relevant thoughts. The organizational function of the self helps one form one’s worldview based on one’s exposure and experience. This would be influenced by one’s environmental factors such as family, culture, religion etc. Interpersonal function helps one develop better relationship with people and enhance one’s communication skills.
