Question: Which of the following statements is true?

a.All cells have a cell wall for protection and structure.

b.Eukaryotic cells in plants and fungi, and all prokaryotes, have a cell wall.

c.There is a second membrane composed of structural carbohydrates surrounding all cells.

d.Prokaryotes and all cells of eukaryotic animals have a cell wall.

Answer: b.Eukaryotic cells in plants and fungi, and all prokaryotes, have a cell wall.

All cells have a cell membrane. Some types of cells have a cell wall that surrounds the cell membrane. Cell wall provides protection and structure to a cell. Eukaryotic cells in plants and fungi, and all prokaryotes, have a cell wall but absent in animal cells. Cell wall is made up of cellulose(in plants), glycoproteins ( Algae), and chintin (Fungi) and varies between species. Cell membrane is made up of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates.

Question 78 Which of the following statements about the cytoskeleton is TRUE? All eukaryotic cells have actin, microtubules, and intermediate filaments in their cytoplasm The cytoskeleton provides a rigid and unchangeable structure important for the shape of the cell. The three cytoskeletal filaments perform distinct tasks in the cell and act completely independently of one another Actin filaments and microtubules have an inherent polarity, with a plus end that grows more quickly than the minus end С. 8. Which of the statements about the organization of complex multicellular organisms is false? Only some cells are in direct contact with the environment. Interior cells cannot grow as fast as exterior cells without mechanisms to transfer nutrients between cells. Signals transferred from exterior cells to interior cells can activate or repress gene expression in the...
