Answer #1

**Cost : It is not a constraint in design of transformer vault because transformer vault do not requires costly materials to get built up !!

**Safety : No, safety is never a constraint in design because it meant for safety of workers and must be followed as per prescribed electric codes and NEC standards

**Equipment sizing : Yes , it can be a constraint on design of vault because the size of equipment like transformer and circuit breaker are variable as per need of user with different voltage and kVA ratings, hence being a variable factor it can be a constraint !!

**Equipment temp/heat level : Equipment heating is also a variable factor that depends upon amount of electrical loading put on transformer, so it can also act as constraint to vault design and build up !!

**Raise doubts if any and provide rating as feedback please !!

Waterproofing will prevent groundwater from entering the vault. It is estimated that the vault has a weight of 35 kips, exclusive of the vault floor, which has a thickness equal tot. A sump pump will prevent any water from accumulating inside the vault. A factor of safety of at least 1.5 is required to guard against buoyant uplift of the vault. Write an equation for the buoyant uplift force on the vault; then, compute the floor thickness (t) in feet...
