You start running an SDS-PAGE gel at 200V. After 10 minutes, you notice that the dye front has not moved very far and the current has dropped to almost zero. What's the most likely explanation for what has happened here?

It is given that the current has dropped to zero during an electrophoresis experiment. It can happen because of many reasons.
i. Check buffer levels in both the chamber. The buffer level must touch the gel in both the chamber
ii. Make sure that there are not many air bubbles in the buffer solution which may block the current flow (As air bubbles are insulators of electricity)
iii. Ensure that the buffer solution is prepared freshly. the current may drop down to zero if all the ions in the buffer are used up
