Yes, online advertising has more potential to engage viewers than mass media advertising. It is because mass media advertising has certain limitations such as it cannot specifically target the right set of customers, unlike online advertising where the marketers find it easier to select and target the right set of interested customers that too on a mass level. Online advertising allows marketers to select the appropriate target market and reach them through their engaging multimedia modes such as audio, video, text, gif, and animation. Mediums such as social media, video streaming platforms, emails, blogs, and websites allow online advertisers to connect with the target customers on a deeper level unlike mass media that has lost significant value because of digitization and has same content to offer to all customers irrespective of their age, income, and needs and wants.

My personal media consumption is completely digital. I am not subscribed to any magazine or newspaper. I mostly read the news through news channels Apps. I spend my time on social media, read a few blogs, and watch a few YouTube videos. Marketers usually target me through these channels only. I am informed about the new product offerings on social media and YouTube. Pushed advertisements are also sent to me by some online platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart to inform me and persuade me to check out new products. I hardly have access to radio and television. Netflix and Amazon Prime satisfy my hunger for video content and music.
