Explanation:

John's father = D_aa
John's mother = ddA_
John = DdAa
John's wife = ddaa

Parental cross: DdAa X ddaa
Progeny: DdAa Ddaa ddAa ddaa

It is given that both genes are 20 cM apart on the same chromosome.
D and a are present on paternal chromsome.
d and A are present on maternal chromosome.
i.e. both loci are in repulsion.

Parental combinations = 40%
Recombinants = 20%
So, progeny probabilities are,
DdAa = 10%
Ddaa = 40%
ddAa = 40%
ddaa = 10%
