Lunar Gateway is a spaceship, that is proposed to be launched in 2024. It will be anabling astronauts to study about the Moon's surface. NASA, along with commerical and international space agencies, is developing spaceship to explore the Lunar South pole as it is high chances for the occurence of ice.

The instrument in this Lunar Gateway will moniter the weather in space as well as observe the radiation environment of the Sun. The space weather instrument. will observe solar.particles and solar wind. In deeper space, astronauts will face greater challenges from the violent outbursts.of the Sun. The instrument will collect data and help us to forecast events occuring from the Sun that could affect our astronauts in space.

This is important because this will prepare us for human and robotic exploration of the Moon, and in the longer run, of Mars.
