Ileum is part of large intestine. The myogenic spontaneous activity varies along the intestine and also in animals from species to species. The ileum part of intestine has consistant contraction and relaxation.

Isolated ileum being relatively more resistant to trauma, easier to set up and produces larger 5 contractions than jejunum or duodenum, ileum is used mostly for experimental analysis.
