Creating More Effective Communication
How could you have handled this situation differently so that communication would have been more effective?
The incident
I use to work for a company and I was once communicated by the team leader that my presence will be important on a specific Sunday of a month for a meeting. However, we generally have a week off on Sundays. I got this thing cleared with my manager and he said that I also have the option of not attending the Sunday meeting.
The communication process
The communication was ineffective because not all the part of the message was conveyed to me. This created confusion within the mind of the employee. The stages of communication which involves the proper conveyance of the message that was received from the superiors is one of the biggest hurdles. This is because often message tends to get distorted and unclear.
There was no filtering, but the team leader herself changed the meaning of the message and forgot to mention other vital points.
Note: If you liked the answer please give an Up-vote, this will be quite encouraging for me, thank you!
