Answer #1

The fore limb bones of cat are homologous to the forelimb bones of birds as they are structurally nearly identical. But function wise serve different.

The wings of insect and wings of birds are analogous. As they serve same functions with different structure.

The hindlimb of whale is vestigial. As the whale lives in ocean it serves no purpose for the whale to have hind limb.

Structures as different as horse hooves, bat wings, and whale flippers contain pentadactyl bones that develop from the same embryonic tissues. How have evolutionary biologists interpreted these similarities? a) By proposing that horses, bats, and whales share a common ancestor. b) By identifying the bones as being analogous structures. c) By applying the principle of convergent evolution. d) Two of the other statements are correct Please help

    1. Select whether the statement is true or false. Organisms that have similar forms can look similar, but come from very different evolutionary ancestors. True/False 2. Select whether the statement is true or false. The length of branches on a phylogenetic tree always corresponds to the length of time between the emergence of new species. True/False 3.
