1. What is the correct progression of steps in fatty acid beta oxidation?
a. Thiolysis follows the second oxidation, in which NADH is an electron carrier.
b.Hydration follows the first oxidation, in which NADH is an electron carrier.
c. Hydration is the last process before thiolysis
d. Hydrolysis follows the first oxidation
1. In beta oxidation of fatty acids, the first step is an oxidation process in which Acyl-CoA is oxidised to alpha, beta - Enoyl-CoA.
Then hydrolysis takes place to form 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA.
Then it is subjected to a second oxidation to form beta-Ketoacyl-CoA.
In the final step, beta-Ketoacyl-CoA undergoes Thiolysis to give rise to an Acyl Co-A and an Acetyl-CoA. (no NADH is involved).
So according to this, options a is correct.

Question 39 (2.5 points) Saved Which of these enzymes is correctly paired with one of its immediate products? Glycogen phosphorylase: Glucose 6-P Fatty acid synthase: Oleate HMG COA Reductase: HMG COA O Debranching enzyme: Free glucose Question 40 (2.5 points) Saved Which enzyme is...
Which of the following correctly compares fatty acid synthesis and fatty acid oxidation? Select ALL correct statements. Fatty acid synthesis requires reduced electron carriers while fatty acid oxidation requires oxidized electron carriers. Fatty acid synthesis and fatty acid oxidation both include a repeating cycle of reactions at some point during the process. Transport proteins in the mitochondrial membrane are required for fatty acid synthesis but not for fatty acid oxidation. Without metabolic coupling, fatty acid synthesis is an endergonic process...
