Many people argue that evolution is “only a theory”. Compare and contrast the way that theory is used among lay people and scientists. Describe how evolution does or does not fit the definition of a scientific theory.
Evolution is a theory but it has obviously deeper connection and understanding of how things occurred in life. According to a layman, evolution is a concept where the parents are producing offspring and with change in the environment and time, there are gradual changes taking place in the next generation that is passed on. According to layman, it becomes a sudden change in the environment that contributes to changes in the organisms in an attempt to adapt to that particular environment. The individuals are subjected to changes and one who is able to survive the changes is taken forward and rest is not. Evolution according to layman is the gradual change an organism needs to adapt in order to survive.
According to the theory of evolution as per the scientist, it is the change in the heritable traits or characteristic that takes place over the successive generations. The traits are changes due to the expression of the genes contributing to genotypic and phenotypic characteristic and genes are passed from the parent to the offspring during the process of reproduction. Evolution is a change that occurs due to multiple processes like natural selection, genetic drift and hence at the end creates a number of biodiversity amongst the organisms that originally branched out from the same species.
When we talk about a scientific theory, we are talking some of the facts that are scientifically explained and when we talk about the evolution facts, they are accumulated or drafted together based on some of the observational evidences. We can say that evolution is a combination of both scientific theory and facts where the observable traits of an organism are examined and studied over generation and the mechanism of evolution is mapped.

Compare and Contrast the strategies used by Google with the Scientific Management Theory and the Behavioural Management Theory
Compare and contrast a theory, conceptual framework, and model. How might these three ways of thinking abstractly fit together? How is a road map like a framework or model? You are having coffee with a fellow student or colleague who thinks that theory, frameworks, and models are a waste of time and have nothing to do with practical nursing care. How might you argue that they can help you in daily nursing practice? Can you imagine different situations or contexts...
Intelligent design theory is an argument used by some people to challenge the teaching of evolution in public schools. One of the supporters of this idea claims that certain biological structures, such as the bacterial flagellum, require so many complex parts working together in perfect synchronization that it is not possible that they could have evolved from simpler structures. This argument states that a simpler structure could not perform the same function, which is evidence of “irreducible complexity.” This is...
Compare and contrast the Reference Theory of meaning and the Idea Theory of Meaning and explain how best each one of them can be used to explain the term Covid-19.
10.1 Darwin and the Theory of Evolution Lesson 10.1: True or False Date Name Class Write true if the statement is true or false if the statement is false. 1. As recently as 200 years ago, many people believed that Earth was only 6,000 years old. 2. Artificial selection occurs when nature selects for beneficial traits. 3. The individual Galápagos Islands are all similar to each other 4. Malthus argued that human populations grow faster than their resources. 5. Lamarck...
Compare and contrast Piaget's theory to Information Processing. What are some similarities and differences in these cognitive development theories. How does each theory connect to an infant's social development?
Select two individual health behavior theories. Compare and contrast the two theories. Explain how each theory works to include its benefits and challenges. Describe a public health issue that could be addressed by each theory. For the theories you have identified: Define each theory to include a brief overview of the history. Explain how each theory works by using a public health issue as an example. Discuss the benefits and challenges of using each theory. Compare and contrast the theories.
1. Develop a theory of bioenergtics constraints that drive the evolution of chromatin organization and mmechanisms of DNA replication. You must describe what the selective pressures that cause this adaptation and incorporate synthesis of general knowledge concerning DNA organization/function. 2. Compare and contrast the primary, secondary and tertiary structure of DNA and RNA in a cell. 3. Describe the multiple mechanisms of DNA damage surveillance and repair. If these exist, how do mutations still arise?
Compare and contrast the way Hesiod and Aeschylus present Prometheus. How does Hesiod seem to characterize him? What differences do you see in the way the Aeschylus presents him?
Compare and contrast the circumstances faced by people with disabilities in the US and in Australia. 1. How does socioeconomic status or the overall economy of the country affect disabled communities? 2. Do people living with disabilities in these countries have equal access compared to their non-disabled counterparts?
