Should parents be allowed to arrange marriages for their children ? Why or why not ?

Arrange marriages are typically seen in many of the Eastern countries in most of the cases, and has been accepted as a form of marriage and union between two families than two people alone. Arrange marriages also take up a lot of financial obligations and has been seen to cause various issues such as dowry deaths, mental stress etc.

Many of the parents arrange marriages for their children because they believe that marriage is to be done at a certain and not when the candidate is ready to be wed. In certain other cases, children allow the parents to take decisions for them as they believe that parents would know what is best for them.

The issue with arranged marriages is that it reduces the level of control that one has over their life and can also lead to them succumbing to a marriage of convenience rather than out of affection. However, in certain cases, the partners do develop affection for each other eventually. In many societies, although parents may partially arrange marriages, where the final decision is made by the candidate themselves.

However, out of the will of the Individual, the parents must never be allowed to force the child into an arranged marriage that they are not comfortable with and is not ethically right for them to do so. As a result, various matrimonial online dating sites have mushroomed over the years so that the Individuals can meet people only for the 'purpose of marriage.'

The entire purpose of marriage is hence lacking clarity in many of the cases of arranged marriage, which brings concern for the fact that one must marry when they want to and who they want to, and not someone that is merely arranged by the parents.
