The GLOBE project extended the studies of Hofstede and Trompenaars and factored all the dimensions based upon manager’s input located in over 60 countries. There were some new dimensions added as a result of the study. Each of the three sets of cultural dimensions has special merit, so after a careful review, respond to the following questions/prompts:
1) Performance orientation is easiest to implement as its in the hands of the management. They can help reduce increase the compensation/rewards based on the achievements and hard work the employee has put in a global setting.
2) As a manager i would be more focused on institutional collectivsm as to make sure that collective distribution of resources are rewarded. As my team we should more inclusive and his will help in enhanced outcomes for my team.
3) Yes time should be considered a cultural factor because every society perceive time differently. Some consider is precious and some do not find it very valuable compared to other aspects. for eg People will stand for 2 hours in India for a free meal where as in US time is considered more valuable. So time can be an important aspect that should be considered.
4) My personal set of cultural dimensions are future orientation,gender egalitarianism, Performance orientation and Institutional Collectvism. These dimensions help in decision making for my team and how to solve cmplex problems that exist. For eg: performance orientation helps in keeping my team involved and motivated to solve complex problems, Gender egalitarianism helps in ensuring that there will be no differences within team wrt gender but will be rewared based on performance. These help in building the tem culture and enhange collective growth
