A friend asks you how much pressure is in your car tires. You know that the tire manufacturer recommends 35 psi , but it's been a while since you've checked. You can't find a tire gauge in the car, but you do find the owner's manual and a ruler. Fortunately, you've just finished taking physics, so you tell your friend, "I don't know, but I can figure it out." From the owner's manual you find that the car's mass is 1500 kg . It seems reasonable to assume that each tire supports one-fourth of the weight. With the ruler you find that the tires are 19 cm wide and the flattened segment of the tire in contact with the road is 15 cm long.

What answer will you give your friend?

Express your answer using three significant figures and in psi

A friend asks you how much pressure is in your car tires. Unfortunately, you have misplaced your gauge but confident in your knowledge of physics you tell your friend “I can figure it out”. From the owner’s manual you find that the car’s mass is 1500 kg and that the tire manufacturer recommends 31 psi. Assuming that each tire supports one-fourth of the weight of the car, you use a ruler to find that the tires are 15 cm wide...

The speedometer on your car is broken. However you notice that the wheels of your car are rotating at 675 rpm (that reading is not broken on your car). Being a number geek, you know that the radius of your tires is 12 inches = 30 cm. Calculate the speed of the car (this is the same as the velocity of the tire rims). Please show all math steps. Thanks!

Express your answer to two significant figures and include appropriate units. b) Through what angle does a tire rotate in one second? While rotating the tires on your car you notice a rock [mass = 0.1 Kg] stuck in one. You learn online that the rock and the tire have a μ=0.6 between them and a maximum normal force equal to 140 times the rocks weight, and you find that your tire has a diameter of 24 inches. You turn on your car, put it in first gear, and start pushing the accelerator. At what “speed” on your speedometer does the rock...

As you approached the I-74 exit in your uncle's little red sports car convertible you happened to notice a cat crossing the road. Unknown to you at the time, the auto mechanic, having had an uneventful social life and being consequently...
