Minoxidil is a vasodialator drug which use in alopacia for hair regrowth.Minoxidil help to hair follicle to get more oxygen,blood and nutrients by widening blood vessels throgh potassium channel openning.Sulfotransferase is a enzymewhich may present on scalp ,it convert minoxidil into minoxidil sulfate.So responce of minoxidil depend on amount of sulfotransferase enzyme in hair follicle.It is more effective on middle part of scalp than other part of scalp.the common side effect of minoxidil are itching,hypotension,Impotence,skin rashes,redness,burning of scalp,inflamation,blurred vision,dizziness,headache.Minoxidil topical is made specially for men.it should be avoided if scalp is red,swollen or infected.It is found that minoxidil topical 5 percent are more effective than 2.5 percent.It only causes regrowth of hair as continuosly appying it.
