Answer #1

7. The prey make difficult for the predator them by the following phenomenon:

A. The first line of defense is to avoid being detected by the predator by means of reducing noise production and any visual cues that the predator might use to locate the prey. Frogs and crickets usually stop singing as another creature approaches so that predators cannot detect them.

B. Some other prey have evolved camouflage coloration that blends into the background making it difficult for visual predators to find them. Many moths camouflage them and look like the bark of trees on which they rest during the day so that bird cannot detect them and also Predators often use prey movements to detect them, so many prey remain as still as possible when a predator approaches.

8. Animal social interaction may provide individuals with increased access to food by means of information sharing and cooperative defense against non-group members and the other way to find food by means of animal social interaction is nesting near other individuals and forming colonies causes information sharing and increased ability to exploit a highly variable insect food resource. Once colonies were formed, it increases incidence of food stealing so they do not need to travel greater distances for food searching.

Problem 1 In simple predator-prey models, sinusoidal functions can be used to model the oscillating populations of two species of animals in the same environment. As the population of the predator species increases, the population of the prey species will decrease. If the number of prey gets too low, the population of the predator species will suffer from limited resources and start to decline. In this problem we will be modeling one population of rabbits (the prey) and one population...

Given the rate at which prey births exceed natural deaths, the rate of predation, the rate at which predator deaths exceeds births without a food...

    1) We humans recognize that non-human animal behavior is often predictable and that animals appear to have clearly defined goals and purposes in their behaviors. Which of the following is the most accurate and complete statement about this "purposefulness?" a. Purposeful behavior represents the strategies that are most successful in replicating the design information that builds those behaviors, arising in deliberate pursuit of biological reproduction. b. Purposeful behavior reflects the inherent purposefulness of the entire universe, representing the drive by...

CASE STUDY: Pumas, long known as solitary carnivores, are more social than previously thought, according to a new Panthera study published in the peer-reviewed journal Science Advances. The findings provide the first evidence of complex social strategies in any solitary carnivore -- and may have implications for multiple species, including other wild cats around the world. "It's the complete opposite of what we've been saying about pumas and solitary species for over 60 years," said lead author and Panthera Puma...

QUESTION: Please write a one paragraph lab report introduction based on the following experiment below: Organisms must forage for food and other resources that are scattered around a heterogeneous environment. Food availability varies from site to site, but so do environmental conditions that foragers experience (e.g., temperature and wind) and the risks to which they are exposed. Foraging by any organism involves trading off the gains to be made by collecting food against the costs of doing so, including costs...
