solution:

Training initiatives at any organization are very important, following actions must be taken to balance organization and employee’s objectives and time.

For senior management:

  • Checking the senior management calendars for any possible conflicts and any important deal or strategic work that they might be doing during the training schedule. They must not be distracted from their strategic work, so their timings need to be kept in mind while deciding the training schedule
  • Senior management must be consulted for the lean period during their team’s / departments operations so that this time can be fully utilized to train them on new skills. This way employees will also feel motivated to join the initiative and the leaders won’t have to suffer the productivity loss
  • Back-up plans must be prepared and shared in consultation with the senior management so that minimum disruption occurs and maximum efficiency is achieved during the training initiative
  • The senior management should also be requested to motivate their employees for participating in the initiative

Needs of individual:

  • An initial employee survey can be done to get an initial sense of employee requirements and expectations from the initiative
  • They can be divided inti groups mixing senior and junior people in batches so that their team’s work is not affected
  • Training for each / department should be done in a manner when there is a lean time for them, like during festivals or people who are not on some projects
  • They should be informed well in advance so that they can plan their work
  • New training tools such as online videos, online meeting should be done so that employees can take trainings from the comfort of their desks without affecting their productivity

Productivity

  • Well planned schedule in advance
  • Training availability through newer mediums such as online videos, virtual classrooms, etc.
  • Small groups
  • Employee motivation through enhancement in skills
  • Well-coordinated with leadership teams and departments
