A person who is a good manager is not necessarily a good leader. The main difference between leaders and managers is that good leaders have supporters or followers while a good manager have people who work for them or employees.
A good leader tends to have great communication skills and they also have the desire and ability to innovate and get out of the comfort zone. Good leader also inspires their followers to walk along on the journey they are, whatever it may be (GO2HR).
Moving on, a good manage is the one who can guide and direct his employees to perform daily work efforts, they establish the rules, and look after their employees’ needs (GO2HR).
I think that it is possible to be a good leader and a manager but not many people are able to balance between the two. A manager is more focused on details than a leader is. They make sure the plan gets executed and arranges everything accordingly to it while a leader is the person who has the vision or idea and creates a broader plan (Glen, Jeffrey). I think that for a person to be successful at both they need to balance between the two; but I think a person can be both a good leader and a good manager if they put their efforts into it.
The best leader I have known is my current department manager. I think he is a good manager but also a good leader because he has shown the ability to motivate people do better at work rather than just explain the rules and makes his employees follow them.
The above mentioned post highlights the main difference between a leader and a manager and reflects on whether an individual can possess capabilities which will make him attain both leadership status as well as make him a good manager.
Yes I agree with the response of the first question being provided, as it is true that a person who might be a good leader cannot be expected to be a good manager too because although both are interrelated but are different jobs. And a good manager cannot be a expected to be a good leader too is because the difference of nature of their jobs where the former is engaged in driving the efforts of people while as the latter is engaged with inspiring and motivating followers to follow him.
Therefore the facts presented satisfy the reasoning behind the difference between a leader and a manager.
I also agree by the saying that an individual if trained well can turn out to be both ,,,, a good leader as well as a good manager through striking a good balance between the tasks performed by both by attaining a clear understanding of nature of jobs involved.
Moreover a Department manager could turn out to be a good leader and a good manager if he is capable of inspiring his followers or employees to push their efforts for attaining tasks.
