1. My stance is that Coke a Cola is better than Pepsi.
2. Let us analyze the pros and cons of both Coke and Pepsi:

Pros of Coke

Focus on Cola- Pepsi has diversified its business to manufacture Frito –Lay, Quaker Oats, Mountain Dew, Acquafina, etc. Hence, they have lost focus on the cola market. A study shows that Coke’s market share has increased from 17.3 to 17.8 percent while Pepsi’s have reduced from 10.3 to 8.4 percent. This clearly shows that Coke is more accepted by consumers than Pepsi.

Variety of options- Coke has a variety of options such as Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Cherry, Vanilla Coke, Coke Zero, etc. On the other hand, Pepsi has just two options, namely- Pepsi and Diet Pepsi. Consumers prefer variety and choose the brand that suits their life style and preferences. Hence, options are important for consumers.

Millennials as target consumers- In order to be with the trend, Coke has announced a newly modified sleek new can and new flavors in Diet Coke such as Ginger Lime and Zesty Blood Orange. Since the Millennials prefer adventure and new experiences, Diet Coke was modified with new flavors. They just want the products to be authentic as possible at the same time relatable to the millennial group. Though Pepsi tried to attract the younger generation through ads, it has become a great failure. Yes, in the Pepsi ad, Kendall Jenner offered a soda to a police officer manning a protest which was a serious social issue. There was serious criticism that Pepsi has misused the social issues to sell sodas. Pepsi pulled back the ad and apologized to the public.

Cons of Coke

Calories- Both Coke and Pespi are beverages that are not good for health.

Consequences of drinking soda daily- Drinking Coke and Pepsi daily results in skin ageing due to the high level of sugar content.

Change in consumer preferences- Due to the negative effects of the sugary sodas, people in the U.S have become more health conscious and are shifting towards healthier life style and drinks. Hence, market share will decline soon.

3. Conclusion- Though Coke has both pros and cons, it is most likely that Coke is better and has more acceptances among the consumers in the beverage industry.
