4. Gremlins have a gene that determines if their hair is grey (W), which is dominant to white hair (w). However, if a gremlin is homozygous for grey hair, it shrivels up and disintegrates before it’s born. What is this an example of, and what genotypic and phenotypic outcomes would you expect if you crossed two heterozygote gremlins?

Answer #1

GREMLINS CONTAIN TWO GENES SHOWING LAW OF DOMINANCE IN WHICH DOMINANT GENE CODE FOR GREY HAIR. THE HOMOZYGOUS DOMINANT GREMLINS DIE BEFORE BIRTH. CROSSING BETWEEN TWO HETEROZYGOTES PRODUCES 1 HOMOZYGOUS DOMINANT, 2 HETEROZYGOTES AND 1 HOMOZYGOUS RECESSIVE GREMLINS. SINCE HOMOZYGOUS DOMINANT WILL DIE BEFORE BIRTH SO GENOTYPIC AND PHENOTYPIC OUTCOMES WILL BE SEEN LEAVING HOMOZYGOUS DOMINANT GREMLINS.

In hogs, and allele that produces a white belt around the animals body (W) is dominant over its allele for a uniformly colored body (w). The dominant allele of another gene (F) produces a fusion of the two hoofs on each foot. Suppose a uniformly-colored hog homozygous with fused hoofs is mated with a normal-footed homozygous for the belted character. what are the genotypes of the parents? belted parent: Uniformly-colored parent: What are the genotypic and phenotypic ratios in the...

Punnett Square for Question #4 is a the top Punnett Square Genotypic ratio: Phenotypic ratio: 5. Purple flowers (P) are completely dominant over white flowers (p). If a pea plant is heterozygous for purple flowers, can any of this plant's offspring have all purple flowers? Think about the different genotypes with which you can cross the hetero- zygous parent: homozygous dominant, heterozygous, and homozygous recessive. Use three Punnett squares to show your work for each possible phenotype. Heterozygous purple pea...
