Suggest suitable computer networking devices on the following scenarios. Provide simple explanations to your answers.

(a) For a far distance to connect 2 switches
(b) For a laptop connecting to a network through Wi-Fi
(c) For 4 computers having to connect to a network
(d) For 1 standalone network connecting to another standalone network
(e) For many computers connecting to a switch with inadequate number of ports

Ans a. Router.

For a far distant switches we requires Routers as each router interface has the capability of connecting different network. The routers with the help of ISP can connect to far distant apart network.

Ans b.wireless Modem.

Wifi Modem has the capability of radiating wifi signals so that laptop can connect to it. There are many different types of modem depending on the distance and speed requirements. 802.11 is the standard wifi protocol with many version a/b/g/n.

Ans C. Switch.

A switch has the capability of connecting one or more computers depending on the number of ports that it has. Switches basically have 24 and 48 ports. There are also layer 3 switch wich can connect to computers in LAN along with layer 3 capability. But since the requirements is of 4 port, a 4 port switch has to be used.

Ans d. Bridge.

Bridge connects two different LAN. But since bridge are now a legacy device a switch can also be used, and if only one computer has to be connected two one computer on the other side, a direct LAN ethernet cable can be used to connect both. By providing IP and Gateway both the PC can be connected.

Ans e. Switch.

Since the port has been exhausted one more switch has to be used to connect the left over system.
