You need to aim a cannon for a circus act. A performer will be shot out of a cannon, pass through the hoop at her maximum height, and then land safely in a net. The net is 86 meters away from the cannon and the loop is 30 meters above the cannon and the net. If the performer will fly out of the cannon at 30 m/s, then at what angle should the cannon be fired?

The answer is 55 degrees. However, I do not know the steps to follow.

During a circus act, an elderly performer thrills the crowd by catching a cannon ball shot at him. The cannon ball has a mass of 10.0 kg and the horizontal component of its velocity is 8.00 m/s when the 65.0 kg performer catches it. If the performer is on nearly frictionless roller skates, what is his recoil velocity? How much kinetic energy is lost in this process?

At a circus, a clown is being shot out of a cannon. This is a good thing because clowns are terrifying. The cannon’s barrel makes an angle of 35 degrees with the ground and the initial velocity has magnitude 10.4 m/s. The end of the barrel is 1.0 m above the ground. A 1.0 m thick mattress, with sides 2.0 m long, is placed so its closest edge is a horizontal distance of 10.0 m from the end of the...
