Answer #1

OTTOMAN EMPIRE

The Ottoman Empire known in the Western Europe as the Turkish Empire or simply Turkey was a state and caliphate that controlled much of Southeast Europe , Western Asia , and North Africa between the 14th and early 20th centuries. It was found at the end of the 13th century in northwestern Anatolia in the town of sogut(modern day Bilecik Province ) by the Oghuz Turkish tribal leader Osman. Although initially the dynasty was of Turkic origin it was persianised in terms of language, culture, literature, and habits. After 1354 , the ottoman crossed into Europe and with the conquest of Balkans , the Ottoman Beylik was transformed into a transcontinental Empire. With Constantinople as it's capital and the control of lands around the Mediterranean basin the Ottoman empire was at the centre of interaction between the eastern and western worlds for six centuries.

Major Factors That Contributed To The Success And Longevity Of Ottoman Empire.

SUCCESS :-

A strong sense of religious mission. The Ottomans were devot muslims and their sultan served as both religious and political leader. They had a cruel but effective way of eliminating political opposition. Once a Sultan is assumed power , he would have all his brothers executed so none of them could challenge his rule.

The empire allowed a form of religious freedom. While Non-Muslims could not hold government positions, they were allowed to practice their faith. The Patriarch of Constantinople, for example could still lead the Greek Orthodox Church from Constantinople which was now called Istanbul and is called that to this day.

LONGEVITY :-

The Ottoman period spanned more than 600 years and came to an end only in 1922, when it was replaced by the Turkish Republic and various successor states in Southeastern Europe and the Middle East. The Ottoman Empire officially ended in 1922 when the title of Ottoman Sultan was eliminated. Turkey was declared as a Republic in 1923.The factors that led to the longevity includes the unity of people in the state. Eventhough the muslim was the domination and the political rule was vested with them all religion was given importance.
